Guestlist handles all your event registration needs

Guestlist Event Registration

Guestlist Event Registration

Well I didn’t plan on doing a featured launch once a week or anything but hey, when you have a winner, you have a winner.  And boy do I think we have another winner this week!

Guestlist is an online event registration system that is incredibly easy on the eyes and dead simple to use.  From the landing page to the registration to the event creation process, the app just exudes quality and good design.

Guestlist lets you create events on their site and then manage ticket sales for an event that you are organizing.  You have the option of “selling” free tickets or you can charge whatever price you decide to set.  You provide them with your Paypal email address and they send you the money.  While they are in beta they are completely free.  They have not released pricing information for paid tickets yet but I assume they will charge some percentage as a handling fee.  Another really nice thing they have done is that charity event tickets are free and will stay that way even after they are out of beta.

Where they are trying to differentiate themselves from competitors like eventbrite is by offering a more visually appealing interface and a scaled-back, easier-to-use feature set.  In other words, if you’re looking for the kitchen sink, you will likely want to look elsewhere because that’s not what Guestlist is trying to provide.

And ya know what?  It works.  Not every user and/or event needs the kitchen sink.  I love the simplicity of this app.  There is simply just enough of what you do need and none of what you don’t.  I have heard the creators describe the app as a “chef knife, not a swiss army knife” and I think that’s pretty accurate.

You give them your event name, set a date, and add at least one type of ticket.  You are then presented with a very slick interface to continue editing your event until you are satisfied with it at which point you would publish it.

You can customize the background of the page with a variety of very nice looking options they provide and you can upload a logo for your event to further customize your event page.  You can optionally give it a location which they are nice enough to map for you and some extra description and that’s all there is to it.  Nice, clean, and easy to use.

One thing I did notice was that there appears to be no way currently to find events through their site.  There is no search feature and no listing of upcoming events that I could see.  You are given a public URL to use for your event after you publish it and are then encouraged to share it via social media and/or email.  It’s not clear if they plan to support finding events through their site or not at this point but I think it could be potentially useful.

If you need to manage tickets for an upcoming event, I strongly suggest you take a look at Guestlist!  If all you need for your event is a slick looking landing page for people to easily order tickets from and some easy tools for tracking attendees and cashflow, stay away from the kitchen sink and go with Guestlist.
